What’s New:
Just hours away from the ushering in of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, terrorist mortar fire out of Gaza hit a Negev kibbutz in the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council district. One mortar landed between several buildings used to house kindergartens, but thankfully, the children and their parents had not yet arrived, and there are no injuries reported. Damage to one building was reported. As mortars do not set off the same alarm system as the Qassam rockets, there was no warning minus the actual explosion the mortars.
During the night, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the 15-second warning alert was heard by residents of Sderot and the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. There was one explosion and no injuries.
Local residents have reported escalation in rocket attacks since the onset of the attempted talks between Prime Minister Netanyah and Abbas.
