Hypocrisy Continues Long After the Massacre Ends

fogel family 300x213 Hypocrisy Continues Long After the Massacre EndsOur own Jennifer Hanin recently reacted to the ongoing investigation of Melanie Phillips, after she called those responsible for the Fogel family massacre “savages”. Apparently, a pro-Muslim group on the UK took offense at her language and felt it required police review. Here is Jennifer’s commentary…

As a law abiding citizen, I understand that when a complaint is made to the police, the police have an obligation to investigate. I would assume the investigation of columnist/ author Melanie Phillips falls in this rote category. Yet, when evaluating the duplicitous nature of her accuser, Inayat Bungalawa, and his disingenuous organization, Muslims4UK, this complaint warrants a closer look at the accuser and his attempt to silence Phillips rather than the accused.

I’ve watched the Melanie Phillips story unfold and have to ask when it is the law of the land in the UK to investigate journalists just because they insinuate Arab murderers are “savages”? As I recall, the Jewish People have had their fair share of ridicule from this same group: anti-Israel Arabs. In fact, most anti-Israel Arabs sling words like “occupier,” “Nazi,” “apartheid” not to mention phrases like “filthy Zionist regime,” or even insane comparisons to “monkeys,” “pigs,” “microbe bacteria” or least ingenious, “mentally ill.”

“Savages” is an appropriate word to describe terrorists that scale a smart fence, break into a home, knife five members in the heart and decapitate a three month old baby.

Until dialogue meant to dehumanize Israeli Jews subsides and anti-Israel Arabs stop dismembering Israeli Jewish families, these heinous acts will only multiply. In fact, they just did. Today, there was a terrorist bombing in central Jerusalem and the last week has seen a dramatic increase in rocket attacks on southern Israel.

The Fogel family members that had their life cut right out of them were many things; first and foremost they were family members, they were citizens, they were neighbors, they were community members, they were Israelis and they were Jews. Anti-Israel forces have long since hijacked the term “settler” and the liberal media has consumed it and regurgitates it only when using it in a negative way. If anything, Phillips was right on in her Spectator article when she said the following statements in quotes:

The moral depravity of the Arabs is finding a grotesque echo in the moral bankruptcy and worse of the British and American ‘liberal’ media,”

Anyone with moral compass would not have complained to the Press Complaints Commission nor would they have filed a police report with the UK Metropolitan Police.

“Overwhelmingly, the media have either ignored or downplayed the atrocity – or worse, effectively blamed the victims for bringing it on themselves, describing them as ‘hard-line settlers’ or extremists.

This is exactly the case. The Los Angeles Times suggested that the Fogel family massacre resulted from a “revenge” attack while the New York Times claimed the attack jeopardized peace prospects. Other liberal media are polarizing public opinion against Israel by making  similar claims.

“To the New York Times, it’s not the Arab massacre of a Jewish family which has jeopardized ‘peace prospects’ – because the Israelis will quite rightly never trust any agreement with such savages – but instead Israeli policy on building more homes, on land to which it is legally and morally entitled, which is responsible instead for making peace elusive. Twisted, and sick.”

Israel is the only place in the world where it’s seen as a crime if Israelis build on their land. It’s a no-win situation and the stalemate fuels new antisemitism, which boils down to using anti-Israel tactics as veiled Jew hatred.

Lastly, let’s not forget that the terrorists at large not only slaughtered the Fogels in their own home, they silenced them forever, taking away any right to make a complaint against groups like  Muslims4UK. This atrocity comes on the heels of years of Palestinian incitement that is fueled by lies, misinformation and sheer bigotry and hatred. Let’s not insult the memory of Udi (father, age 36), Ruth (mother age 35), Yoav (age 11), Elad (age 4) and Hadas (age 3 months) by feeding into diabolical charges.

Instead, let’s use this as an opportunity to ask Arabs to play nicely and watch the words they use when referring to Jews and Israelis. Bottom line: if the anti-Israel Arab community spent as much time on making peace and progress as a people as they do committing heinous acts, shelling Israeli towns, blowing up buses, promoting BDS, circumventing the peace process and filing frivolous complaints, Palestinians would have a state.

I believe the Phillips case was brought about without merit to silence her free speech. I ask that all authorities including the Press Complaints Commission and the UK Metropolitan Police consider the contents of this letter and turn your inquiries to the bogus intentions and frivolous activities of the Muslim4UK instead.
