Delegitimization

The highest ranking officials in the Palestinian Authority deny Israel’s right to exist to this day. Widespread efforts to depict Jews as corrupt, immoral and illegitimate only fuel the movement to deny Jews their state.

  • Losing Sleep in South Africa To the Honorable International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, As South Africa is in the news due to the death of Nelson Mandela, I felt it was time to follow his example and speak of social justice. I am sorry that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has caused you to lose sleep.  Obviously, you don’t have larger problems to worry ...
  • “Who’s the more foolish? The fool, or the fool who follows him?” Clearly, this is a fraught time in Israel-Palestinian relations.  A third intifada may not happen, but violence is increasing.  Abbas– unable to achieve his goals despite grandstanding at the UN– is threatening to resign and let the Palestinian Authority fall apart (or fall to Hamas).  Many blame Israeli intransigence.  Settlements are the issue, some say.  ...
  • Enough is Enough! It is time for action! The time has come to stand tall and fight for Israel!  In the past year, 157 different anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli organizations have joined forces to intimidate Israel’s friends in the United States and throughout the world.  They have used social media to organize high profile campaigns dedicated to tarring Israel and ...
  • The UN is No Friend to Israel This Thursday, Palestine hopes to achieve non-member observer state status in the United Nations General assembly.  It is likely that they will succeed. This recognition continues a trend of what can be described as at best, cold, and at worst, hostile, relations between the United Nations and Israel. Throughout the United Nation’s history, Israel has been ...
  • Tell Us What You Really Think, Vincent Browne If you haven’t heard Vincent Browne’s inflammatory comments, check them out here. Dear Vincent Browne, As a young journalist, I look to people like you to be my models of proper behavior.  It is the job of a journalist to speak truth to power, to scrutinize every word they say, and to hold them accountable. When you called ...
  • Dishonest Discussions Drown out the Silence Last Saturday, the NYU’s New School hosted a troubling panel entitled “The Jewish-American Relationship with Israel at the Crossroads.”  The panel program explained that they were there to discuss the “possibility that increasing awareness of the conflict among the American Jewish community is creating a more critical stance towards Israel.”  This is an interesting topic ...
  • The Substance of Hate For what is hopefully the last time, the leaders of the world at the United Nations General Assembly were unfairly forced to endure another vitriolic speech from the “President” of Iran.  I use the term President loosely, for the Iranian people suffer under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s rule, despite his claims of service to the noble people ...
  • We Stand In what likely is a cosmic joke, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran will be addressing the UN on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur. Likely, it’s just a complete accident and the irony is lost on Iran. If the day was chosen as an insult, it only shows the cowardice of the ...
  • Justice for Rachel Today, the Haifa district court ruled that the death of Rachel Corrie was an unfortunate accident. I respectfully disagree with the verdict. While I do not blame the bulldozer operator for the tragedy, I do blame the people who willingly and knowingly put Rachel Corrie and other civilians into a military zone during the intifada. Cindy ...
  • Why Not Recognize the State of Palestine? The Palestinian Authority is going to the UN to ask to be recognized as an observer state.  It doesn’t seem like it should be a notable event, but it is fraught with danger.  Something like 100 countries recognize Palestine as a state and most of the Western countries have relations with the Palestinian Authority even ...
